C-Tran Wheelchair Storage

C-Tran Wheelchair Storage

The C-Tran is a wheelchair storage system developed as an alternative to vehicle boot hoists. Fixed to the roof of the car using robust brackets, the C-Tran main advantage is that it allows for a wheelchair to be quickly and conveniently stowed after someone has transferred into the driver or passenger side of a vehicle.

A rooftop box is open to extend a wheelchair winch down to the ground next to the open driver's side door. A folded wheelchair is attached.

Once a wheelchair transfer has been completed the C-Tran is operated via a handset; first opening up horizontally, and then lowering the lifting bracket to a suitable height for the wheelchair to be hooked on to. After this the chair can be lifted safely up into the roof box which then closes for secure storage. The entire operation takes approximately 80 seconds to complete. The C-Tran’s roof box is also protected by a resistant ABS cover that protects the contents against rain and other weather.
