Lockdowns

Lockdowns

Wheelchair lockdown shown in a van, in the centre of a carpeted panel is a metal slot which the wheelchair pin affixes to.
What are wheelchair lockdowns?

Lockdowns are securing systems that hold a wheelchair safely in position within a wheelchair accessible vehicle during travel. They prevent the wheelchair from moving and protect the occupant in the event of sudden braking or collision.

What types of lockdown systems are available?

We fit manual tie down systems where straps are attached by hand, semi automatic systems, and fully automatic docking systems where the wheelchair clicks into a floor mounted receiver. The right choice depends on whether a carer will secure the chair or the user needs independent operation.

Are wheelchair lockdowns crash tested?

Reputable lockdown systems are crash tested and certified to relevant safety standards. We only fit approved restraint systems that meet or exceed UK safety requirements.
