It depends on the difficulty. Grab handles help with balance, swivel seats turn to face the door so you do not have to twist, transfer plates bridge the gap from a wheelchair, and a powered side step lowers the climb into higher vehicles.

What is the best mobility aid for getting out of a car?

For most people it is a swivel seat or a grab handle. A swivel seat rotates towards the open door so you can come straight out rather than twisting, while a grab handle gives a firm point to push up from. Des Gosling assesses what works for you first.

Do car access aids work on any vehicle?

Most do. Grab handles, transfer plates and seat aids fit a wide range of cars and vans. A few aids, such as swivel seats, need a certain amount of door space, which is checked at the assessment.

Can car access aids be fitted through Motability?

Yes. Des Gosling is Motability accredited and fits access aids as part of Motability adaptations, as well as for private customers.

On the GS Seat almost everything can be individually adjusted, for example the seat depth and the position of each arm rest in all three dimensions. The GS Seat also has a wide number of accessories that will help further adapt the seat to a user’s specific needs.

Designed with the growing child in mind, the GS Seat can be adjusted to provide comfortable and safe seating.

GS seat is compatible with the Carony transfer wheelchair system, the Turnout swivel seat and the Turny seat lift.
