Carony
Carony
The solution that eliminates lifting when transferring a person between wheelchair and car.
The Carony system is a wheelchair with a low profile, detachable seat. This wheelchair is used in tandem with a swivel seat base, and the seat simply slides on rails from the wheel unit straight onto the swivel seat base. By using a Carony, the wheelchair occupant does not need to transfer from the seat of their wheelchair into the vehicle’s seat; removing any need to lift themselves.
The Carony system is available as either a manual wheelchair, the Carony Classic, or a powered chair, the Carony Go.
The Carony Classic is easy to manoeuvre and functions as an ordinary comfort wheelchair. It is also available with two different wheel alternatives: 12″ rear wheels, as a transport wheelchair for those unable to drive themselves, and with 24″ drive wheels, for those who can.

Frequently Asked Questions
The answers to the questions we most regularly get asked. See our FAQs page for more or contact us team for anything more specific.
A Swivel Seat is a seat within a vehicle that has been adapted in such a way that, as the name suggests, it can be swivelled by 90 degrees; so that it faces directly out of the door of the vehicle. This makes it very easy for someone to lower themselves into the seat, without having to bend and twist as they manoeuvre under the arch of the door. Some swivel seats also feature a powered up/down motion to make transferring even easier.
Prices for Swivel Seats can vary depending on factors like the vehicle in question. Through the Motability Scheme these adaptations are also subsidised. To quickly get an accurate price please contact us on 01332 863742.
This is one of the most common questions we get asked here at Des Gosling Mobility, and the easiest way to find out is to simply contact us and ask. Our staff are familiar with these adaptations and can usually give you an answer straight away.
Most swivel seats operate in very similar ways. There are a few differences between different make/models though. If you have never used a swivel seat before we would advise you to contact us to arrange a free demonstration, with no obligation. You can either visit us at our premises in Derbyshire or we can arrange for one of our specialists to come to your home.
The Motability Scheme provides an affordable, worry-free way for people with disabilities to lease a car, scooter or powered wheelchair in exchange for their mobility allowance. Des Gosling Mobility are proud to be a Motability Accredited Company which means we are fully licensed to fit vehicles with all manner of adaptations. The Scheme is operated by Motability Operations Ltd, under contract to Motability, a registered Charity.
